I’ve been meaning to replay Shadowrun Hong Kong ever since the post-campaign DLC came out. The only reason I didn’t jump in as soon as it released was the knowledge that the first time I played the game I didn’t get the very best ending. This time I will take the time and effort to get all the information I need. This means that it will probably take about 80 or so episodes to finish it. Buckle up I guess, we are in for the long haul.
The DLC also added a new feature to the base campaign, audio commentary. Given I already know the story, I was wondering. Should I turn on the audio commentary? Would you as a viewer appreciate hearing the insights from the developers, at the risk of getting spoilers on later plot details?
At this point they are off, but I would love to hear your thoughts.
The last week’s releases were:
Pillars of Ranternity
It turns out this is one of the trickiest fights in the base game. Domination is a difficult effect to deal with, and more powerful characters are merely bigger problems for you when they get dominated.
Heat Signature Challenge Runs
I have played way too much Heat Signature. At the time of writing I have finished 3 acid clouds. The only possible reason for playing so much is because I really like the experimentation you can do. To facilitate this I came up with the prototype challenge. Characters performing this challenge may only use items that they started with, and items that were the target of a steal mission. This can lead to very roundabout solutions for straightforward problems because for example you may need to capture someone despite never finding a non-lethal weapon, or an armour piercing weapon. I figured they could make for an interesting Sunday episode or two while I decide what to play next.
ShadowRan: Hong Kong
This game starts pretty well, giving you an immediate mystery to deal with long term, but a bunch of much bigger problems that you have to deal with right now or you are dead. Just like half of the party.
Heat Signature Hot Tips / Ranneko’s Tuesday Tips
I finished the game TWICE before I learned about these NPCs. In fact if it hadn’t been for a reddit post mentioning Asli I’m not sure I ever would have because I tend to put the strongholds off for the very end of the game, meaning that my window to meet these people is very small.
