I am still on holiday! I am trying to sort out these posts before I head off because ideally, I would like to just leave my laptop at home. I have am terrible when it comes to traveling light, normally I have a minimum of half a dozen different devices in my carry-on just to cover any entertainment possibilities. If I can leave my laptop at home… I will still have half a dozen devices on me but the bulkiest one won’t get in the way.
For the record, the devices I have taken with me are:
- Bluetooth Headphones
This week brings new series! In the Monday/Friday slot I will be fighting the alien overlords in The Ransistance (you can sign up to become a soldier here). On Wednesdays, I revisit my favourite game from 2015 and play through Massive Chalice for the first time since I wrapped up my Massive Tips series.
The current schedule is:
Saturday: Syfro Saturdays – Ranneko and Syfro Play Pit People
Sundays: Ranowned Explorers: International Society
Monday and Friday: The Ransistance
Tuesday and Thursday: Torment: Tides of Ranmenera
Wednesday: Ranneko Plays Massive Chalice
Syfro Saturdays – Ranneko and Syfro Play Pit People
Syfro and I finish up this set of Pit People episodes with another run at the unfair tournament. It is a pretty fun challenge, as attrition slowly takes its toll. I always seem to lose troops slower than Syfro but I have a nagging suspicion that this isn’t due to a skill difference as much as it is a general willingness to let his troops hold the line.
Ranowned Explorers: International Society
This week’s episode has a surprisingly lengthy series of encounters involving sheep. Renowned Explorers can be a pretty strange game at times.
It is time to kick off The Ransistance by showing those alien invaders they are always vulnerable. Operation Gatecrasher is a decent alternative to the tutorial but I do find it strange that it is the only mission that involves attacking a monument. I realise this is only really a distraction but surely we could have used that concept elsewhere as well?
Torment: Tides of Ranmenera
This week the focus is on trying to finish up the quests found in the Underbelly and Government districts. The overseers and aeon priests have some interesting stuff going on. I wish I had a little more time to talk to all of them but this series is already going to run pretty freaking long. Gotta love Sn’erf though.
Ranneko Plays Massive Chalice
I have made no secret how much I loved Massive Chalice. I guess the real question will be how it holds up after 2 years have passed. I want to spend a little time contrasting it with XCOM2, because though they belong to the same genre, they have very different scopes and minor mechanical differences have huge, knock-on effects on the tactical gameplay.
